Lake Langano is 200 km, south of Addis Ababa, popular for its swimming, water sports, horse riding, forest walking and mountain biking activities. The lake is brown in color (rich in minerals) and surrounded by resort accommodation.
There is also a rich variety of wildlife surrounding the lake, including hippos, monkeys, baboons, warthogs, and a wide variety of birds. Lake Hawassa is 75 km further; it is a freshwater lake and home to hippos and also a very popular resort town for visitors.
In the morning drive to Hawassa. En-route, visit some of the rift valley Lakes such as Ziway referred as the bird watchers’ paradise. Also, there is a chance to visit Wondo Genet and take bath in natural thermal. Then drive farther to Hawass and enjoy nature
In the morning attend daily local fresh fish market on the shores of Lake Hawassa. This market will be a truly local experience as you observe people enjoying different varieties of fish including the Ethiopian version of “Sushi”. You will also be able to spot a number of aquatic birds.
Then start driving back to Addis. On the way back visit Lake Langano and relax on the lake side. Then proceed to Addis admiring beautiful nature and landscape.
