Bahirdar Tour
BahirDar means “By the Sea” and is located on the southern shores of beautiful LakeTana, Ethiopia’s largest lake and reservoir for the famous Blue Nile River.Wide boulevards lined with palm trees and a temperate climate makes it a popular holiday destination.
Cruise on the Lake to view hippos or endemic birdsand visit Ethiopian Orthodox monasteries, found on some 20 of Lake Tana’s 37islands - some dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. Bahar Dar’s otherattraction is the Blue Nile Falls; hiking through beautiful scenery andcrossing over the famous Portuguese bridge.
Day one: Fly Addis to Bahirdar
In the morning fly to Bahirdar, up on arrival meet and assist by ET-Holidays representative. In the morning you will take a boat cruise on Lake Tana to visit the 14th c. Monastery of Ura Kidane Mihret which is the most famous of the Zege peninsula monasteries ((beautiful mural paintings, religious books, processional crosses and sacred artifacts).
Afternoon drive 35km to the small village of Tis Abay to visit Blue Nile Falls, along the way enjoy the local lifestyle and typical countryside of Ethiopia.
